Tiberias – first days off

Tiberias lies on the western shore of the Sea of Galilee (Kinneret Galilee), close to the holy sites of Tabgha, Capernaum, and Mount of Beatitudes.

I am staying at Casa Nova Pilgrim Guest House, a hospitality site of the Kiononia John the Baptist.

It is adjacent to the St. Peter Catholic Church, run by the Franciscan order.

And on the interior, there are images evocative of Jesus time in this region some 2,000 years ago.

And returning outside, beautiful carvings in stone.

And here is a photo of an abandoned mosque in downtown Tiberias, with modern buildings and shops under construction around it.

Tomorrow, trips to a Crusader castle here in Tiberias, and journeys to Capernaum and the Church of the Apostles, Mount of the Beatitudes and the Church of the Loaves and Fishes in Taghba.

Blessings from a Sunday School teacher searching for the places of the Biblical teachings.

Hi, Norman! I hope you’re getting some rest. The Galilee is beautiful, eh?
